Joseph Mulroy


Joseph Mulroy, composer/lyricist of the romantic comedy musical Born to Ride the Waves (which receives its premiere production July 4-20, 2008 at Huntington Beach Playhouse) is a graduate of USC’s Thornton School of Music and an alumnus of the LA and NYC BMI/Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshops. He is the lyricist and/or composer of four produced musicals, including Surfstory, which the LA Times called “fresh, inspired, fun, elegant, engaging, and blissfully unpretentious.” Born to Ride the Waves, its successor, was a finalist for the Chicago Stages 2007 Festival. In addition to making music at Spirit of Life Community Church since 1994, Mulroy has conducted pit orchestras for new and classic musicals, including the West Coast premiere of Harnick/Raposo’s A Wonderful Life at Laguna Playhouse and Saddleback Civic Light Opera’s multi-award-winning production of Sweeney Todd. A BMI affiliate and member of Dramatists Guild, he and his wife, multi-award-winning choreographer Marie de la Palme, live in Orange County, California. They have two children.

 


Cheryl Crandall


Cheryl Crandall is a native Californian and a resident of Mission Viejo. She and her husband, Martin Hernandez, have four children who are the delight of Cheryl’s life! Cheryl is most often found in her home away from home, a Windstar van, on the way to or from various piano and guitar lessons, basketball/soccer/softball/baseball events, school plays and Brownie leader meetings. Life is never dull! Her active performance calendar is a joyful endeavor as well.

Cheryl is a graduate of UCLA and the recipient of The Frank Sinatra Pop Vocal Award and The Carol Burnett Musical Theatre Award. She performed on Broadway in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, understudying Debbie Boone. She was Grace Farrell in the National Tour of Annie and played the role of Mary Magdalene in The Glory of Easter at The Crystal Cathedral (with Michael York). Cheryl has had the starring role in many Southern California theatrical productions, including My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Brigadoon, Annie Get Your Gun and The Student Prince. She toured with Perry Como for five years as a backup singer and performs her solo act internationally on cruise lines, including Holland America, Cunard and Royal Cruise Line. She has performed for two U.S. Presidents and was the solo vocalist for the opening ceremony of Disney’s theme park, California Adventure, in Anaheim, California.
